Red snapper fish
The red snapper is very similar in shape to other members of its family. The color of the body is slightly pinkish red, intensifying in the dorsal region. In young fish there are dark spots on the sides; these disappear with age. The body is compressed laterally. The mouth is provided with short and sharp teeth, lacking the upper canines. The dorsal fin is provided with 10 spines and 14 soft rays while the anal one shows 3 spines and 8 to 9 soft rays. The adults of this species can reach up to 1m in length and weigh 18 kg.
