Leatherback turtle


Its carapace is smooth and dark in color with ridges that are distributed along its length, the shell is not made up of bony scutes and a smooth curve can be appreciated that gives it a semi-cylindrical appearance. The front flippers are longer compared to the other species of sea turtles, in adults there can be a distance of 2.7 meters from tip to tip. The beak is hooked and has barbs pointing inward at its throat in adaptation for its main source of food. They have a total length of 1.83 to 2.2 meters and a weight of 250 to 700 kilograms.
