The horse mackerel has an elongated and compressed body with a very marked lateral line. Minimum size: 15 cm. Color: Its body is greenish blue except for its belly, with white or silver tones. The larger ones are usually found a few miles out to sea, while the younger ones spend a lot of time – especially in summer – sheltered by the bays and piers. It feeds on small fish and crustaceans. The spine of its dorsal fin and the other two located in front of the anal fin.
